Al-Khaja explained that Dubai Tourism has given Egypt special attention in marketing campaigns due to the market’s newfound importance and promise. In recent years, the number of Egyptians visiting Dubai has increased by 9, from 169,000 visitors by the fall of 2018, to 184,000 visitors in 2019 so far, ranking 13th among the main export markets for visitors to Dubai.

It also forecasted that the four cities will achieve occupancy rates of 84% in Alexandria, 79% in Cairo, 68% in Hurghada, and 63% in Sharm El-Sheikh in 2019.
“We have a specific increase target already but as we have just started working with Egypt’s Tourism Ministry, so some details are still in discussion, thus the percentage of the hike depends on how much the government will spend on the marketing campaign, and on how big the size of the campaign is,” Wang added.
“The diversification of marketing and media platforms, a key pillar of the Egypt Tourism Reform Programme, contributes to the changing narrative of the sector,” said Al-Mashat.
