Traditional crafts reflect the features of their makers in a Cairo art exhibition

Ten photographers participated in the exhibition, wandering their lenses in many Egyptian governorates, capturing craftsmen of traditional arts in an attempt to reveal the secrets of heritage creativity.

To symbolize interwoven worlds of creativity and the relation between craftsman and his craft, an art exhibition hosted by the Faculty of Archeology at Cairo University in cooperation with the Department of Archeology and Community Communication in Historic Cairo at the Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities took place under the title “Heritage Crafts in the Eyes of Photographic Artists.”

Ten photographers participated in the exhibition, wandering their lenses in many Egyptian governorates, capturing craftsmen of traditional arts in an attempt to reveal the secrets of heritage creativity.

The photographers showcased how the heritage craft affect its maker and his personality. Inside the exhibition, pottery and copper polishing paintings and engraving of names on the marble draw attention.

The people who took these pictures intentionally took close-up photos of faces of the craftsmen that inherited those crafts from their forefathers, and grandfathers to highlight their details and features.

Then, while photographer Amer Abd Rabouh, the head of the photography section at the October Magazine, took pictures of the craftsmen polishing the copper pieces, while another photographer, Khaled Bassiouni focused on the finest details of the pottery craft through a narrow shot from the bottom to the face of the pottery maker in Upper Egypt.
