Champion of the 2016 IMET Squash Open, Jordan’s Mohammad Al-Sarraj, won the 2017 Cronimet Squash Open, which took place in Skelleftea, Sweden.

This is the third Professional Squash Association (PSA) title for the Jordanian champion.

Al-Sarraj, who was preliminarily ranked sixth in the Cronimet’s tournament, started his journey with a win over England’s James Peach 3-2 in the first round.

Although the fist round’s match started with Peach winning the first two games 10-12 and 4-11, Al-Sarraj turned the table by winning the following three games 11-7, 11-7, and 11-4, respectively.

The Jordanian champion surprised the audience after he beat England’s Joe Green—preliminarily ranked first in the championship—by 3-1 (11-4/13-11/11-13/11-7).

After he defeated France’s Auguste Dussourd—preliminarily ranked third in the championship—by 3-2 (4-11/11-6/11-6/5-11/13-11) in the semifinals, he was qualified for the final, where he met Scotland’s Dougie Kempsell.

The Scottish player—preliminarily ranked second in the championship—won the final’s first game 6-11. Al-Sarraj claimed revenge though, winning the second game 11-3. Kempsell did not lose hope and won the third game 13-11. Al-Sarraj, however, ended this battle victorious, winning the last two games 11-8 and 11-5. The final ended with a 3-2 in the favour of the Jordanian champion.
