General prosecution to remove Hussein Salem from travel ban lists

The prosecution’s decision comes following reconciliation with Salem in the illicit gains case

Egypt’s general prosecution notified the International Criminal Police (Interpol) to take executive procedures to remove Hussein Salem, fugitive tycoon and ally of former president Hosni Mubarak, and his two sons from the Red Notice List, according to spokesperson for the Ministry of Justice Khaled Al-Nashar.

Al-Nashar added that the prosecution also informed authorities for passports, immigration and citizenship to remove his name and his family from travel ban lists.

Moreover, the National Committee to Recover Funds and Assets Abroad notified the competent authorities in Switzerland, Spain and Hong Kong to remove Salem and his family from related EU lists.

In August, assistant to the justice minister and head of the Illicit Gains Authority, Adel El-Said, announced during a press conference that the government completed a deal with Hussein Salem to transfer 75% of his financial wealth to the state.
