Egyptian wrestling players in Poland

The most significant victory was achieved by Egypt's Haitham Fahmy in the Greco-Roman 59kg division, in which he acquired a silver medal, with the gold medal going to Japan’s Kenichiro Fumita.


Several Egyptian champions participated in the 2016 Poland Wrestling Open, Ziolkowski & Pytlasinski, which took place in the Polish city of Spala from 17 to 19 June.

The most significant victory was achieved by Egypt’s Haitham Fahmy in the Greco-Roman 59kg division, in which he acquired a silver medal, with the gold medal going to Japan’s Kenichiro Fumita.

In the Greco-Roman 71kg division, Egypt’s Adham Ahmed Salah finished in seventh place. Gold and silver medals of this division went to Germany’s Frank Stabler and Poland’s Dawid Karecinski, respectively.

Egyptian Mahmoud Fawzy Rashad finshed in ninth place in the Greco-Roman 80kg division. Iranian Ramin Taherisartang won the gold medal for the division, while Belarusian Pavel Paminchuk won the silver.

The champion for the Greco-Roman 85kg division was Belarusian Mikalai Stadub, with Polish Damian Janikowski as a runner up. Egyptian Ahmed Mohamed Ibrahim participated in this division, finishing thirteenth.

Egyptians Hamdy Elsaied and Abdellatif Ahmed competed in the Greco-Roman 130kg division, finishing in twelfth and thirteenth places, respectively. First and second places went to German Eduard Popp and Hungarian Armin Mozes Majoros, respectively.

Only two Egyptians participated in the freestyle competitions. Unfortunately, they failed to bring any medal.

First was Mohamed Aly Zaghloul , in the 86kg division, who  placed 16-17, tying with Cuba’s Liuan Lopez. This division’s champions were Russian Abdulrashid Sadulaev and Polish Zbigniew Baranowski.

Second was Diaaeldin Gouda, in the 125kg division, who acquired eighth place. Russian champions dominated this category, as Russians Bilial Makhov and Mukh Hagomedov won gold and silver respectively.

In the female wrestling competitions, Egypt was represented by wrestlers Enas Mostafa Youssef and Samar Amer.

Youssef competed in the 69kg division, finishing eighth. Gold and silver medals went respectively to Swedish Jenny Fransson and Mongolian Nasanburmaa Ochirbat.

In the 75kg division, Amer finished in fifth. In this division, first and second places went to Belarusian Vasylisa Marzaliuk and Colombian Andrea Carloina Olaya Gutierrez, respectively.
