The human remains of victims from the Egyptair flight MS804 crash indicate that it’s possible an explosion occurred on the plane, an anonymous forensic official told the Associated Press on Tuesday.
The source added that the remains are very small, and forensic experts and the search team have so far been unable to locate an intact organ. “There isn’t even a whole body part, like an arm or a head,” he said. “The logical explanation is that it was an explosion.”
Twenty-three body bags containing the remains of victims from EgyptAir flight MS804 arrived at Zenhom mortuary on Monday.
The parts recovered are very small and identifying them, or even which part of the body they came from, has proved to be difficult.
Family members of the victims will visit the mortuary to provide DNA samples, which will help in identifying their relatives.
The EgyptAir aeroplane crashed into the Mediterranean Sea in the early hours of Thursday morning, claiming the lives of all 66 people onboard.
