Vodafone tops indicators for mobile services quality in Cairo in November 2015

Mobinil best in terms of Internet connectivity via mobile, according to NTRA report

The National Telecommunications Regulatory Authority’s (NTRA) report on the quality of mobile services in November 2015 revealed an improvement in the performance of Egypt’s three mobile telecommunications companies; Mobinil, Vodafone, and Etisalat.

There were only 203 failed voice call attempts, from approximately 47,000 calls conducted in Cairo, and 78 calls that were dropped.

The report showed that Vodafone continued to excel in voice call services in Cairo, whereby more than 15,600 connections were attempted, of which only 56 failed.

Etisalat came second with about 15,600 connections attempted and only 61 failed, an improvement since October 2015 when it ranked third. Mobinil was third with 86 failed operations of a total of 16,300 connection attempts.

In terms of calls fropped, Mobinil came first with only19 calls dropped out of a total 16,300 calls. Vodafone came in second with only 23 dropped calls of 16,600 conducted. Etisalat came in third with 36 dropped calls out of 15,600.

None of the three companies exceeded the maximum rate of call dropping or blocking set by NTRA, estimated at 2% of the total calls.

Mobinil topped the rankings for quality of mobile Internet services, with no failed attempts to connect to the Internet, and 5,600 successful connections. Vodafone was second with six failed attempts of a total 5,500 connections, thus improved from its ranking in October when it showed the worse performance among the three companies.

Etisalat followed in third with 16 failed attempts of 4,300 connections.
