Ooredoo, the telecommunications and entertainment company headquartered in Qatar, announced on 15 September that it has signed a multi-territory, multi-year deal with Walt Disney Company Middle East and North Africa.

“This is a milestone agreement for Ooredoo, as we link with one of the world’s leading companies to provide the very best content for our customers,” said Waleed Al-Sayed, Ooredoo’s chief operating officer. “Disney is a brand that is known and loved all around the world by children and families, and we are delighted to be able to offer such a range of fantastic family entertainment directly to our customers.”

The Disney content will be provided to the customers of the Next Generation Mozaic TV services that Ooredoo offers to Qatari subscribers.

Ooredoo, previously known as Qtel, stated that with this new agreement, families will be able to watch top Disney Channel TV shows, premium blockbusters and classic movies from Disney and Disney-Pixar.

Didier Vanneste, the country head for Walt Disney in Qatar, added that “with the launch of Disney Movies on Demand, ABC TV on Demand along with additional catch-up services and the ability for customers to access content on the move, this agreement gives viewers the content that they want, whenever they want it.”

The multi-screen agreement will also enable customers to access the content via iPads, iPhones and PCs, as well as their home television.

Ooredoo, which means I want in Arabic, is an international communications company with a customer base of more than 93 million and has been the fastest-growing telecommunications company in the world since 2005.
